YELLOW CAB AUSTIN NAMED FINALIST FOR 2005 BUSINESS AWARD

AUSTIN (Aug. 29, 2005) – Yellow Cab, Austin’s premier taxi service, was recently named one of three finalists in the “Innovative Business” category for the Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce 2005 Business Awards.  The annual awards event is designed to honor and recognize Chamber member businesses from the greater Austin area that demonstrate leadership and achievement in business.

The Chamber received 147 nominations for the business awards, competing in Customer Service, Commitment to Community, Innovative Business and Commitment to Excellence. Yellow Cab’s display of innovation, ranging from digital cameras and a global positioning system (GPS), to pre-paid TaxiCards and Web features, such as Fare Estimator and online ordering service, positioned the company as a cutting-edge business.

“As the industry leader in Austin’s taxi business, Yellow Cab is constantly developing new and innovative concepts to further enhance and improve our efficiency, safety and overall quality of service,” said Jim Connolly, president of Yellow Cab. “We’re proud to be selected as a finalist by the Greater Austin Chamber as it further demonstrates our commitment to the Austin community.”

In addition to recent innovations within the Innovative Business category, entrants also provided evidence of responding to adversity and distinguishing themselves from the competition. To further distinguish itself, Yellow Cab detailed its program of modifying and enhancing operational systems within its communications department to provide employment opportunities for visually impaired residents of Austin.
