Austin Cab Driver is named as a Finalist for the Taxicab, Limousine and Paratransit Association's Driver of the Year Award

Austin (August 24, 2006) –Henry Brant Reynolds, an independent contractor driver at Yellow Cab, has been named a finalist for the Taxicab, Limousine & Paratransit Association’s (TLPA) Driver of the Year Award. More than 150,000 drivers nationwide were eligible to be nominated for the award.

“We are honored that Brant has been nominated for this prestigious award,” said Jim Connolly, president of Yellow Cab.  “He has been recognized in the company for his outstanding service and safe driving, and being nominated for this award by the TLPA is the ultimate form of praise.”

Reynolds fell in love with the driving adventure when he became an independent contractor driver at Yellow Cab more than13 years ago. After receiving his second college degree, he decided to become a cab driver, just like his grandfather before him.

One particular moment stands out in Reynolds’ mind to exemplify why he loves his profession: earlier this year, on one of his usual stops, he noticed cries coming from a flooding creek. At first, he thought it was a cat crying, but as he got closer he realized it was an elderly man calling for help while being swept away by a raging creek. Reynolds called for help and performed a daring rescue maneuver, ultimately saving the man’s life.

In Reynolds’ spare time, he continues to rebuild his Port Arthur home, which was destroyed during Hurricane Rita. He has two children, Henry III and Britney.

            The TLPA’s Driver of the Year Award recipient is chosen by a panel of judges that look for the following criteria:

·       Years of driving experience

·       Reputable driving record

·       Excellent passenger relations

·       Positive management feedback

      The TLPA will announce the winner of the award on Oct. 9 during the TLPA’s 88^th Annual Convention & Trade Show in Las Vegas.
